Budget Direct is the only Car Insurance provider in Australia to have won the coveted national CANSTAR CANNEX award for Outstanding Value every time it has been presented since 2007. In 2011, Budget Direct not only won the national award for Outstanding Value Car Insurance, but also won the top award for Car Insurance in New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia and Tasmania.
CANSTAR CANNEX’s awards are by far the best researched insurance awards in Australia. In 2011 they analysed 47 car insurance products offered by 35 insurers in a comparison that covered 15,000 online and phone quotes.

In our 10th anniversary year Budget Direct is elated to win Money magazine’s 2010 'Insurer of the Year'. According to Money magazine, the award was judged on the merits of three different sorts of insurance: Car Insurance, Home & Contents Insurance and Travel Insurance. Money magazine said that Budget Direct won the award due to its "range of insurance products to suit all budgets, with stand-out discounts and features."

This award covers all general insurance product lines, so having our Comprehensive Car Insurance product selected as being the best of the lot was a huge honour for Budget Direct.
Nominations were assessed by a panel of industry experts and judged on their ability to demonstrate maturity within the highly competitive insurance sector while promoting the value the insurance industry provides as a benefit to the wider community.

Budget Direct has twice been recognised for our excellence in service by becoming the first Queensland Contact Centre to win ‘Large Contact Centre of the Year’ at both the 2009 and 2010 ATA National Awards. The award which covers all industry categories is recognised throughout the Contact Centre industry as the pinnacle achievement. To qualify for the national awards, Budget Direct had to first win best Contact Centre >120 staff in Queensland.

In the sixth year of the awards the Australian Banking & Finance Magazine established a panel of leading insurance experts to assist with selecting the worthy winners. They included former Suncorp insurance boss Diana Eilert, Moody’s senior analyst Wing Chew and top UBS analyst Ralph Butterworth. Budget Direct won the 2008 award for Best Niche Insurer because of our excellence and focus on Car and Home & Contents Insurance.

Not content with winning Best Value awards for Car Insurance, Budget Direct’s Home & Contents insurance product won the Gold award in Money magazine’s 2010 Best of the Best Awards in the Cheapest Home & Contents Insurance category. The magazine enlisted a leading research team to review 15 product sectors and an impressive 15,000 insurance premium quotes to help identify the undeniable winner. Some of what Budget Direct’s winning policy insures against is theft, fire, storm and rain-water and provides new-for-old cover for damaged property. Other features include up to $20 million legal liability cover, additional cover for debris removal and temporary accommodation.

The awards feature an international jury from 19 countries who evaluated entries in 8 main categories: TV/Cinema ads, print ads, poster, direct mail, interactive media, radio, best use of media, events. As part of Money magazine's sixth annual Best of the Best awards, the publication crowned Budget Direct's Standard Comprehensive Car Insurance as the 2007 Best Car Insurance category winner. According to the magazine – "The Winners were scored on a combination of features and price....Money gave CANNEX the profile of our average reader and chose two suburbs – Parramatta in NSW and Glen Waverly in Victoria – where there's a concentration of readers. CANNEX then got comprehensive quotes for two different cars – a 2004 Mazda 6 Sedan and a 2004 Holden Commodore Acclaim Sedan – for each of the two suburbs."
